Dear Campionites,
I hope this message finds you well. As you know that Campion School is run by the Society of Jesus and its members are known as Jesuits. Some of the core values of Jesuit education include the following:
"Cura personalis" is a Latin phrase that translates to "care for the entire person." It is a core value and a hallmark of Jesuit education. Cura personalis suggests individualized attention to the needs of each person, respecting him/her as a child of God. It implies a dedication to promoting human dignity and care for the mind, body and spirit of the person.
“Cura personalis” calls for loving ourselves and others as entire persons - the entire gift of life from God given to us. It recognizes that body and soul are both gifts from God that require proper care and balance.
We are called to love one another, know campionites personally, and let our personal example guide the formation of each person more than our words.
Campion School emphasizes "Cura Personalis" - care for the whole person. Our teachers provide individualized attention to nurture unique gifts and potential of students.
The spirit of "Magis” is a core Jesuit value that emphasizes striving for excellence and doing more for the greater good. ‘Magis’ is a Latin word which calls us to discern the most universal good and make choices that have the widest positive impact, rather than simply pursuing personal gain or the easiest option. It is about doing more, better, and greater things for God and others, not for ourselves.
This does not mean simply doing more in a quantitative sense, but rather approaching all that we do with greater care, love, and commitment to serving the greater good. It is about the quality and depth of our actions, not just the quantity.
Adopting the spirit of magis means being discerning, generous, and magnanimous in our choices - always seeking to contribute to the more universal good rather than our own interests. It is a call to excellence in service of others and the greater glory of God.
Campion School is not focused solely on academic performance or professional competence, but rather on developing well-rounded individuals who are "not just successful, but happy persons."
Men and women for others: Our ultimate goal is not just academic or professional success, but the formation of "men and women for others." We aim to form individuals who are persons of conscience, using their talents in service for the greater glory of God and the common good. They will be agents of needed social change in our country. Jesuit education is about transforming individuals to transform society. It seeks to prepare not just successful, but truly happy persons - those who have found meaning, purpose and fulfillment in living for others.
Cura Apostolica (Care for the World): Jesuit education affirms the goodness of the world and seeks to equip students to engage with and transform the world around them through ethical leadership and service. Jesuit education strives to produce citizens who are not only academically accomplished, but also morally upright, socially conscious, and committed to using their talents to make a positive difference in the world. Character formation is a key goal of Jesuit education. The goal is to develop students' competence, confidence and compassion, so they can respond to the needs of the world.
Finding God in all things: Jesuit education emphasizes finding God in all things and developing a "sacramental awareness" of the world, seeing all of creation as pointing towards God. So while Jesuit education may help students discover their talents and calling, the focus is not on simply chasing personal dreams, but on forming men and women who will use their gifts in service of others and for the greater glory of God. The emphasis is on developing the whole person to be a force for good in the world.
Let’s imbibe some of the core values of Jesuit education in our life to be successful and happy persons. I express my sincere appreciation and admiration for the incredible work you do at Campion School.
As a manager, I have the utmost respect for the values and principles that guide Jesuit education.Your commitment to developing the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - is truly inspiring. The emphasis you place on academic excellence, service to others, and spiritual growth is a testament to your dedication to shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
I am particularly impressed by the way our teachers instill in our students a sense of social justice, a desire to make a positive impact on the world, and a deep respect for diversity and inclusion. These are the values that are near and dear to my heart as well.
Let’s strive to create an environment where Campionites can thrive, grow, and make a meaningful contribution to the society. I see many parallels between the principles of Jesuit education and the qualities I look for in our staff members: integrity, compassion, critical thinking, and a commitment to excellence.
I am honored to have had the opportunity to meet with some of our alumni, and I can attest to the lasting impact of a Jesuit education. They bring a unique blend of intellect, empathy, and leadership to their work, and they are a testament to the transformative power of our institution.
My sincere thanks to Rev. Fr Athnas Lakra, S.J., the Principal, Fr. Alok Kujur, S.J., the Vice Principal, Fr. Blacius Kullu, S.J. the bursar and dear teachers for your tireless efforts in shaping the lives of young people and for being a beacon of hope and inspiration for the students. Please know that you have my deepest respect and admiration.
